The Council is empowered with the authority to enter into contracts, enact ordinances and policies to protect the rights of the citizens of the community and to adopt tax rates and fees for services provided to the citizens.
All department heads attend these meetings to be able to address any questions or concerns of the council or citizens in the audience according to their respective departments. Special meetings are held as called.
The City Charter provides that the City Council shall be elected from the City at large for an unlimited number of terms. Elections shall be held every 2 years and each Council Member elected has the option of running for re-election until defeated by an opponent or retirement.
